Title of Ph.D. Topic:  Trade Liberalization and Income Inequality: Evidence from Emerging Economies

Abstract (Max 100): Trade liberalization in emerging economies has significantly boosted economic growth and integration into global markets. However, its impact on income inequality remains uneven and varies across countries. In many cases, skilled workers and capital owners benefit more than unskilled labor, leading to widening wage gaps. Additionally, trade benefits often concentrate in urban and export-oriented regions, deepening regional disparities. Existing empirical evidence highlights the risk that, without inclusive policies, liberalization may aggravate income inequality. Against this backdrop, our study aims to empirically examine the relationship between trade liberalization and income inequality in emerging economies, identifying the channels through which trade influences inequality and assessing the role of institutional and policy frameworks in moderating this impact.
