The M.A. program, which serves as the cornerstone of our academic offerings, is meticulously structured under the Choice Based Credit Scheme and is currently transitioning to the National Education Policy (NEP - 2020). With a curriculum that spans four semesters, our M.A. program is constantly updated to reflect contemporary economic trends and prepare students for competitive examinations. The Masters’ Program in Economics is meticulously structured across four semesters, spread over two academic sessions, with a total credit weightage of 96. This program covers a broad spectrum of economic disciplines, offering a deep understanding of key economic concepts while allowing students to specialize in areas of interest.

  • Core Courses (CR): These compulsory and foundational courses ensure that all students acquire a solid grounding in essential economic theories and principles, covering topics such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics for Economics, History of Economic Thought, International Trade, and Public Economics.
  • Discipline Centric Electives (DCE): Students can tailor their studies according to their career goals through electives that cover specialized topics, including Statistical Methods, Financial Institutions and Markets, Industrial Economics, Econometrics, Agricultural Economics, Labour Economics, Environmental Economics, and Research Methodology.
  • Generic Electives (GE) and Open Electives (OE): These courses offer students the opportunity to explore subjects offered by allied departments, broadening their interdisciplinary knowledge and enhancing their ability to address multifaceted economic issues by integrating insights from related fields such as finance, public policy, and international relations.
