On Monday, November 13, 2024, the Department of Economics at the University of Kashmir organized an Educational visit to the Khonmoh Industrial Estate for its students, scholars, and faculty members. This visit aimed to provide practical exposure to the workings of local industries in Jammu and Kashmir, supplementing classroom learning with real-world insights into industrial operations and labor dynamics.

The Department of Economics is hosting a one-day workshop on Recent Advances in Heterogeneity Robust Difference-in-Differences Design. This workshop aims to benefit faculty, scholars, and students by exploring recent advancements in the DiD research design, which has become a pivotal model for evaluating policy interventions in non-experimental settings

This workshop is tailored for PhD students from Kashmir, aiming to enhance their data analysis skills, particularly in economics. Participants will learn to navigate and analyze large datasets, crucial for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

Contemporary Economics engages with empirical validation of economic theories and reliable forecasting using data. Applied Econometrics via dynamic integration of economic theory and data provides scrupulous insights into the working of economies across globe. In this context, this workshop is designed as a rigorous course on research methods with focus on applied econometrics and hands on training.

Our department will organise a panel discussion on ‘Employment and growth for all – Challenges and Opportunities’ as a part of a series of events taking under the G20/Y20 activities for the year 2023 on 25th of May.
